The Craft Behind The Mazeana

Across North India, farmers burn millions of tonnes of crop residue every winter, one of the biggest contributors to the region's air pollution each season. La Baggio works with suppliers who buy this agricultural waste before it is burned and turn it into the soft, durable material behind every one of our eco friendly vegan leather bags, with no chrome tanning and no virgin plastic involved. The result is what we call genuinely sustainable vegan leather bags, not just leather-adjacent, and cruelty free leather bags at every stage, PETA-approved from material to finish and lower in environmental impact than both animal leather and virgin plastic. From there, each Mazeana piece is cut, stitched, and finished by hand by women artisans in our workshop, guided by three decades of craft in conventional leather before our family business shifted toward plant-based materials, the same hands behind our vegan leather hobo bags and every other line we make. It is a slower process than sourcing standard PU, but it is the only process we are willing to put our name behind.
